The state of AI/ML in MainEvent, August 2024

The latest Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) tools for field & experiential marketing.

We’ve put together a series of videos and illustrations that describe how we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in MainEvent, at the time of this writing, August 2024.

“We want our clients to be better at what they do because they work with us.”

Machine Learning helps manage and process photos, at scale.

mAInevent Vision is an object recognition tool that allows brands like Kraft Heinz to search their vast stores of photos, using natural language search (and machine learning) to find exactly the right shots.

“Image processing has evolved considerably in the past few years, it’s exciting,” says Andy Plax, MainEvent Product Lead.

mAInevent Vision features coming in 2024:

  • Extract data from beer, wine, and cocktail menus at bars and restaurants, including positioning. Screenshot showing product data extracted from a drink menu.

  • Locate compliant and non-compliant price tags on store shelves. Screenshot showing product and pricing data extracted from a store shelf.

  • Process photos of receipts for expense tracking.

“Two big ways that AI/ML can help field marketers are by automating formerly manual tasks, and by leveraging data to make better decisions.”

Scaling the AI/ML team since 2022, in full swing now.

“Our specialized AI/ML team has resources, dev sprints, project managers, and QA, and they’re constantly rolling out new functionality,” says Network Ninja CEO Matt Bochneak.

Before assembling the team, Matt built multiple AI/ML Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and proofs of concepts, hands on, to learn the fundamentals.

Network Ninja has embraced AI/ML. From using CoPilot - currently generating thousands of lines of code per week - to confidential Q&A with sensitive documentation, we’re seeing benefits, internally.

Why marketers should care about AI/ML

“These large language models (LLMs) right now that we have access to now are as reliable as a human, sometimes more reliable than a human employee,” Matt explains.

“It will keep getting cheaper and better.”

Thanks to these technologies, field and experiential marketing firms will soon be able to realize greater value from staff’s work than ever before. “A $30/hour resource augmented by AI/ML could deliver $60/hour in received value,” Matt says.

AI/ML is changing the way marketing agencies do business by helping them:

  • Automate manual tasks and increase data accuracy,
  • Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of field staff and managers, and
  • Analyze large data sets and extract insights from data, to improve the overall success of campaigns.
